Podlech & Zarre (2013), vol. III, p. 2189Plants 30–50 cm tall, with appressed, medifixed hairs 0.6–0.8 mm. Rootstock up to 20 mm in diameter, with short, thick branches, covered with remnants of old stipules and petioles. Stipules 6–8 mm, the lower triangular, the upper from wide base narrowly triangular-acuminate, often reddish, adnate to the petiole for 2–3 mm, covered with ± appressed white hairs. Leaves 5–20 cm; petiole 1–7 cm, rather densely hairy, the rachis finely striate-sulcate, sparsely hairy. Leaflets in 3–6 pairs, in lower leaves often only in 1–2 pairs, remote, ovate to elliptic, 7–28 × 5–15 mm, acute to subacute, more rarely obtuse or rounded, cunate at the base, green, densely hairy when sprouting, soon glabrescent and sparsely covered with appressed hairs on both sides, rarely glabrous on upper side, often finely spotted with red dots on upper side. Peduncles 6–14 cm, straight, sulcate, sparsely covered with white, toward the raceme increasingly with black hairs. Racemes 5–12 cm long, loosely 10–25-flowered, the lower flowers remote, at fruiting time elongating up to 16 cm. Bracts brownish, membranous, narrowly triangular, 2–3(−4) mm, black ciliate. Pedicels c. 2 mm, black hairy, curved in fruit. Bracteoles minute, filiform, c. 0.5 mm, at the base of calyx. Calyx 8–10 mm, tubular, obliquely gibbous at the base, obliquely cut at the mouth, sparsely covered with short appressed white and black hairs; teeth narrowly triangular, 1.5–2.5 mm, sparsely hairy on inner side. Petals magenta, drying violet. Standard 20–22 mm; blade slightly curved in the middle, 8–9 mm wide, elliptic, subabruptly shortly tongue-like narrowed in upper part and here c. 4 mm wide, scarcely incised, gradually narrowed at the base into the cuneate claw. Wings 18–19 mm; blades narrowly oblong to oblong- spathulate, round-tipped, 8–10 × 3 mm; auricle c. 1 mm, claw c. 10 mm. Keel 15–16 mm; blades obliquely elliptic-upcurved, with widely rectangularly curved lower edge and concave upper edge, subacute, 6–7 × 3.5–4 mm; auricle indistinct, claw 8–9 mm. Stamen-tube truncate at the mouth. Ovary shortly stipitate, oblong, glabrous. Legume subsessile to shortly stipitate, pendulous, narrowly oblong, straight to scarcely upcurved, 18–28 mm long, 3.7–4.4 mm high, c. 3 mm wide, keeled by the thickened nerve ventrally, slightly grooved dorsally, abruptly contracted into a rigid, straight, acute beak 1.5–2 mm, bilocular; valves thin but tough, yellowish, chestnut-brown spotted, glabrous or rarely with scattered hairs. Seeds c. 6 in each locule, angular-kidney-shaped, 3–4 × 1–1.5 mm, chestnut- brown, dull, slightly pitted.
