Podlech & Zarre (2013), vol. III, p. 1698Plants a shrublet up to 50 cm tall. Rootstock up to 10 mm in diameter, divided, covered with greyish brown bark. Stems of the preceding years 10−35 cm, densely hairy, glabrescent with age and covered with grey yellowish bark, parts of the current year 25−30 cm, branched, with short brachyblasts up to 5 cm, very densely covered with medifixed, appressed, white hairs 0.4−1 mm. Stipules membranous, 3−5 mm, adnate to the petiole for 1−2 mm, varginate-connate high up, with triangular, acute free tips, sparsely hairy to subglabrous. Leaves (3−)4−7(−10) cm; petiole 0.5−2 cm, together with the rachis (2−)4−6(−7) cm, hairy like the stem, becoming hard, peristent but not spiny. Leaflets in (1−)2−3 pairs, narrowly linear, acute, (10−)20−40 × (1.5−)2−3 mm, on both sides densely covered with medifixed, appressed hairs 0.6−1.2 mm. Peduncles 1−3 cm, hairy like the stem. Racemes 2−7(−15) cm long, remotely 6−10-flowered (in brachyblasts short, few-flowered). Bracts whitish- membranous, 1−1.5(−2) mm, narrowly ovate to narrowly triangular, white hairy. Pedicels 1−1.5 mm, white hairy, sometimes with black hairs mixed in. Calyx (6−)7−8(−9) mm, campanulate-tubular, strongly obliquely cut at the mouth, densely covered with asymmetrically bifurcate, subappressed to ascending, tangled white hairs 0.6−1 mm, sometimes also with ± medifixed, appressed to subappressed black hairs 0.3−0.5 mm; teeth narrowly triangular to subulate, 2−3 mm, very densely white hairy on inner side. Petals pale purple-violet. Standard (13−)15−17(−20) mm; blade 8 mm wide, rhombic-elliptic, deeply emarginate, at the base gradually narrowed. Wings 13−15(−18) mm; blades narrowly oblong, obtuse, 8−9 × 2 mm; auricle 1 mm, claw 6 mm. Keel 10−12 mm; blades obliquely elliptic-curved, with widely curved lower edge and concave upper edge, subacute, 4.5−5 × 2.5 mm; auricle acute, c. 0.5 mm, claw 6−7 mm. Stamen-tube truncate at the mouth. Ovary with a stipe 1−1.5 mm, hairy; style glabrous. Legumes with a stipe (3−)4−6 mm, narrowly ellipsoid, 7−11 mm long, c. 3 mm high, 2.5 mm wide, obtusely keeled ventrally, slightly grooved to rounded dorsally, with a curved beak 3−4 mm, bilocular; valves rigidly membranous, rather densely covered with basifixed, soft, spreading white hairs sitting on little tubercles, without short hairs. Chromosome number: 2n = 16 (TAKHTAJAN 1990: as A. transcaspicus). Occurrence: on sand.
