Tavsif · Description
Podlech & Zarre (2013), vol. II, p. 1329Plants dwarf cushion-forming subshrubs 15−20 cm tall, spiny, densely branched at the base. Hairs exclusively white, at leaves and stipules 0.1−1 mm, at the calyx up to 3 mm. Stems prostrate to ascending, up to 15 cm, the part of the current year 1.5−7 cm, in the first year 1.5−3 mm in diam., densely tomentose, soon glabrescent. Stipules yellowish hyaline-membranous, 6−10 mm, narrowly triangular, acuminate, adnate to the petiole for 3−5 mm, otherwise free from each other, with only one prominent nerve in free portion, sometimes ciliate at the margins. Leaves 0.9−5.5 cm, crowded; petiole 0.3−1.5 cm, like the rachis straight, obliquely erect, thin, rigid, sparsely covered with subappressed to ascending hairs, glabrescent with age; terminal spine 1−3 times longer than the uppermost leaflets. Leaflets in (3−)4−7 pairs, narrowly elliptic, 5−11 × 1−2.8 mm, acute with a mucro 0.2−0.8 mm, on upper side glabrous, on underside sparsely to loosely covered with subappressed to ascending hairs, mostly folded. Inflorescences globose to rarely ovoid, 1.5−3 cm long and 1.5−2 cm wide, composed of 2−3-flowered axillary clusters. Bracts yellowish white, membranous, hyalin toward the margins, 5−7 × 0.6−2 mm, narrowly elliptic to narrowly triangular, acuminate, boat-shaped, glabrous. Bracteoles absent. Calyx yellowish white, purple toward the teeth, not rupturing up to fruiting time, then along a single longitudinal line at the ventral side, 9−13 mm, with 12−15 parallel nerves, sparsely to densely covered with appressed to spreading hairs; teeth subulate, 5−7 mm. Petals yellowish white or cream, sometimes blades tinged with purple, claws of wings and keel free from or adnate to stamen-tube for 1 mm. Standard 13−17 × 5.5−7 mm, obovate-panduriform, emarginate, slightly constricted in the middle, at the base slightly angularly passing into the short, wide, indistinct claw. Wings 13−16 mm; blades narrowly oblong, obtuse, 5.5−7.2 × 1.5−2 mm; auricle 0.2−0.5 mm, claw 8.5−9 mm. Keel 12−15 mm; blades obliquely elliptic, with widely curved lower edge and nearly straight upper edge, obtuse, 4−5 × 2.2−2.5 mm; claw 7−10 mm. Stamen-tube nearly truncate at the mouth. Ovary densely hairy; style hairy in lower 1/3−2/3. Legumes sessile, oblong, 5−6 mm long, 1.5−2 mm high and 3−3.5 mm wide, with a beak 0.5−1 mm; valves chartaceous, in lower half sparsely in upper half densely villous. Seeds 3.5−4 × 1.8−2 mm, light to reddish brown, pitted.
