Stems in basal parts ligneous, covered with remnants of old leaves; parts of the current year 1−2 cm, densely covered with ± medifixed, often slightly flexuous, appressed to subappressed hairs 0.8−1 mm. Stipules 3−4 mm, triangular, adnate to the petiole up to the middle, otherwise free from each other, densely subappressed hairy. Leaves 2−5 cm; petiole 0.5−1 cm, with the rachis hairy like the stem. Leaflets in (1−)2−3(−5) pairs, elliptic to obovate, (5−)8−14 × 2−6 mm, acute, on both sides densely covered with medifixed, appressed hairs c. 1 mm. Peduncles 2.5−4.5 cm, densely covered with ± medifixed, appressed to slightly ascending hairs 0.8−1 mm. Racemes globose to ovoid, 2−3.5 cm long, densely many-flowered. Bracts hyaline, 1−2(−3) mm, linear, hairy. Calyx tubular at beginning of anthesis, 8−10 mm, becoming inflated, globose in fruit, 10−12 mm, densely covered with strongly asymmetrically bifurcate to subbasifixed, ascending to partly spreading, tangled hairs 0.3−1 mm; teeth subulate, 3−4 mm, densely appressed hairy on inner side. Petals violet. Standard 11−12 mm; blade c. 4 mm wide, oblong, rounded to slightly emarginate, auriculate-hastate at the base, with a rather long cuneate claw. Wings 10−11 mm; blades narrowly oblong, obtuse, 4.5−5 × 1 mm; auricle c. 0.5 mm, claw 5−6 mm. Keel c. 9 mm; blades obliquely elliptic, with widely curved lower edge and slighly curved to straight upper edge, obtuse, c. 3 × 1.8 mm; auricle indistinct, claw c. 6 mm. Stamen- tube truncate at the mouth. Ovary sessile, hairy; style glabrous. Legumes ellipsoid, keeled ventrally and dorsally, unilocular.
