Stem erect, stout, 3–8(–12) mm thick, hollow, glabrous, more rarely and especially in the youth sparsely to loosely or more rarely to rather densely covered with subappressed white hairs up to 0.1–0.3 mm, strongly glabrescent and mostly glabrous with age. Stipules thinly membranous to hyaline-membranous, yellowish white, 2–8 mm, often falling and missing at fruiting time, narrowly ovate to narrowly triangular, free from the petiole and from each other, ciliate at the margins, otherwise glabrous or more rarely sparsely hairy. Leaves (7–)10–16(–20) cm; subsessile; rachis grooved adaxially, glabrous or sparsely white or white and dark brown hairy. Leaflets in (5–)6–10(–12) pairs, elliptic to obovate or suborbicular, (5–)7–25(–30) × (3–)4–14(–16) mm, mostly obtuse, on both sides mostly loosely to rather densely covered with subappressed white hairs 0.1–0.3 mm, sometimes glabrescent with age and hairy only at the margins and at the midvein on the underside. Calyx 7–9 mm, campanulate-tubular, obliquely cut at the mouth, loosely to rather densely covered with appressed or ascending blackish brown or also white hairs 0.3–0.6 mm; teeth unequal, the upper (adaxial) narrowly triangular, 1–2.5(–4) mm, the lower (abaxial) linear-acute, 2.5–5(–7) mm, all white and dark brown hairy. Petals whitish or yellow, sometimes becoming violet at the tips with age.
