I, p. 769Plants shrubby, spiny, strongly branched, probably cushion-like, with mostly appressed, white hairs only 0.2−1.5 mm, some hairs of the calyx spreading and up to 2.5 mm. Stems up to 20 cm, 6 mm in diameter, glabrous or sometimes hairy, pale brown, grey-brown with age, densely covered with old rachises; parts of the current year c. 1 cm. Stipules thick-membranous, yellowish brown, 6−9 mm, with several longitudinal nerves but with one distinct main nerv, adnate to the petiole for c. 2 mm, ciliate at the margins, otherwise glabrous. Leaves 4−8 cm; petiole 1.5−2.5 cm, like the rachis rigid, pungent, at firts pale green and sparsely hairy, pale grey brown and glabrous with age, persistent, the pungent tip ± as long as the uppermost leaflets. Leaflets in 6 pairs, narrowly obovate to narrowly elliptic, 6−9 × 2–4 mm, the upper ones often with half the length, rounded or widely acuminate, on upper side hairy only at the margins, on underside hairy allover, mostly folded. Legumes obliquely ellipsoid, c. 16 mm long, 7 mm high, keeled at the curved ventral side, shallowly grooved at the ± straight dorsal side, with a beak c. 3 mm, incompletely bilocular; valves hairy.
