Tavsif · Description
Podlech & Zarre (2013), vol. II, p. 1598Plants 10–60 cm tall, covered with appressed, ± medifixed, in vegetative parts mostly merely white hairs 0.3–0.6 mm. Rootstock simply or repeatedly divided, with very short or somewhat elongated subterranean branches. Stems mostly several, sometimes branched, 5–50 cm, prostrate to ascending or erect, slightly to distinctly angular-sulcate or subterete, sparsely hairy to glabrescent. Stipules whitish- membranous, (3−)4–10 mm, free from the petiole, behind the stem mostly distinctly vaginate-connate up to the middle, rarely very shortly connate, sparsely hairy, at the base sometimes with few short black hairs. Leaves 3–15 cm; petiole very short (especially in upper leaves) or up to 2.5 cm (in lower leaves), like the rachis distinctly grooved adaxially, sparsely to loosely hairy. Leaflets in 6–16 pairs, narrowly elliptic, 5–25 × 2–7 mm, subacute to obtuse, on both sides sparsely to loosely hairy or on upper side nearly glabrous to glabrous. Leaves of the brachyblasts much shorter, with fewer pairs of leaflets. Peduncle 3–14 cm, angular-sulcate, sparsely hairy with white or black hairs. Racemes elliptic to shortly cylindric, densely many-flowered. Bracts whitish-membranous, narrowly ovate, long acuminate, (1−)2–4 mm, with few black and white hairs. Pedicels c. 0.5 mm, black hairy. Calyx 5–7 (–8) mm, tubular, sparsely to loosely, more rarely rather densely covered with black and white or only with black hairs 0.2–0.3 mm; teeth subulate, 1–3.5 mm. Petals purple to bluish violet, rarely whitish, mostly yellow when dry, glabrous. Standard 12–16 mm; blade 5–6 mm wide, elliptic to slightly rhombic-elliptic, widely emarginate, at the base gradually narrowed. Wings 10–13 mm; blades narrowly oblong, rounded, 5.5–7 × 1.5–2 mm; auricle c. 0.5 mm, claw 5–6 mm. Keel 8–10 mm; blades obliquely oblong, with in upper part nearly rectangularly curved lower edge and nearly straight upper edge, subacute, 4 × 1.5–2 mm; auricle 0.5 mm, claw 5–6 mm. Stamen-tube truncate at the mouth. Ovary sessile to shortly stipitate, loosely hairy; style glabrous. Legumes sessile, narrowly ellipsoid to narrowly oblong, 8−10 mm long, 2.5−3 mm high, 1.5 mm wide, keeled ventrally, narrowly grooved dorsally, acute or sometimes with a short beak; valves rather densely covered with symmetrically to asymmetrically bifurcate, tangled, flexuous, subappressed white hairs 0.5−0.8 mm and sometimes also with shorter black hairs. Seeds c. 3 × 2 mm, grey brown. Only subsp. laxmannii occurs in the Old World, two other subspecies in North America. A. laxmannii subsp. laxmannii Calyx 4.8–7.6 mm, the tube 3–4.4 mm; teeth 3–4.4 mm. Petals purple, blue, milky-white or white turning cremy or yellowish. Standard 11–17.2 mm, 3–4 times longer than calyx tube. Chromosome- number: 2n = 16 (TAKHTAJAN 1990: as A. adsurgens, dto. as A. austrosibiricus, inopinatus); 2n = 16 + 2 B (TAKHTAJAN 1990: as A. adsurgens); 2n = 32 (LÖVE 1982 (1); SAKAI, K. 1935, TAKHTAJAN 1990: all as A. adsurgens; TAKHTAJAN 1990: as A. austrosibiricus).
