Stem simple or branched at the base, 4−35 cm, up to 7 mm thick, angular-sulcate, often in lower part leafless and with scalelike stipules, glabrous or sparsely hairy. Stipules membranous, 7−20 mm, the lower ones oblong, the upper ones narrowly triangular, long acuminate, glabrous or sparsely hairy, sometimes also with few short black hairs mixed in. Leaves 9−20 cm; petiole 3−5 cm, at the base up to 3 mm thick, like the rachis striate-sulcate, glabrous or sparsely, more rarely loosely hairy. Leaflets in 12−15 pairs, ovate to elliptic, 8−15 × 4−9 mm, rounded to truncate, glabrous on both sides or on upper side sparsely, on underside sparsely to loosely covered with tangled, often flexuous hairs. Peduncles 0.5−4.5 cm, glabrous or sparsely furnished with white, toward the raceme with increasing black hairs. Racemes loosely 3−6-flowered.
