Podlech & Zarre (2013), vol. I, p. 283Plants 10–15 cm tall, a rather compact, cushion-like, spiny shrublets, strongly branched. Stem at the base up to 5 mm thick, with numerous erect branches 3–10 cm, densely covered with leaves or with remnants of old leaves; parts of the current year 1–2 cm, densely covered with ascending white hairs 0.5–1 mm. Stipules thickly membranous, 7–9 mm, adnate to the petiole up to the middle, free tips triangular, acuminate, densely covered with appressed to subappressed white hairs 0.5–1 mm. Leaves paripinnate, (3–)4–8 cm, obliquely erect; petiole short, like the rachis densely covered with appressed white hairs 0.1–0.3 mm and with fewer ascending hairs up to 1 mm, glabrescent with age, rigid, spiny. Leaflets in (5–)8–13 pairs, elliptic to obovate, 5–10 × 3–7 mm (in plants of high altitude often smaller), acuminate to rounded, often with a minute spiny cusp up to 0.5 mm, on underside with prominent midvein and indistinct lateral veins, on both sides densely covered with appressed to subappressed white hairs 0.5–1 mm, flat or partly or all folded. Peduncles mostly 1–2 in each branch, (1–)3–5(–6) cm, densely white hairy like the rachis. Racemes 2–12 cm, densely to loosely 4–9- flowered, mostly strongly elongated at fruiting time. Bracts white-membranous, falling, 4–6 mm, narrowly triangular, densely appressed white hairy, sometimes with few black hairs mixed in. Pedicels 1–2 mm, white or mostly black hairy; floweres erect to spreading, nodding after anthesis. Calyx 9–11 mm, tubular, loosely to rather densely covered with ± appressed black hairs 0.03−0.25 mm and with ± spreading, tangled white hairs up to 0.8 mm; teeth narrowly triangular-acuminate, 2−3 mm, densely white or black hairy on inner side like the upper part of tube inner side. Petals yellow. Standard c. 22 mm; blade oblong, c. 7 mm wide, scarcely emarginate, subabruptly contracted into the short claw. Wings nearly as long as standard; narrowly oblong, obtuse. Keel slightly shorter than wings. Legumes with a stipe c. 7 mm; obliquely elliptic seen from the side, with strongly curved dorsal line and ± straight ventral line, c. 20 mm long, 10 mm high and 2 mm wide, with a minute beak c. 1 mm, bilocular; valves thin, straw-colored, glabrous. Seeds 2 in each locule, 4 × 3 mm, blackish brown.
