Rootstock covered in upper part with remnants of old stipules and sometimes with old, hardened rachises. Stipules whitish-membranous, 8−18 mm, adnate to the petiole for 4−6 mm, the lower ones ovate-obtuse, glabrous, the upper ones triangular to narrowly triangular, ciliate. Leaves (8−)15−30(−35) cm; petiole 3−6(−12) cm, like the rachis sparsely to loosely or more rarely rather densely covered with spreading hairs up to 3 mm, sometimes hardening toward the end of the vegetation period and persistent up to the next year. Leaflets in (8−)10−20(−25) pairs, ovate, more rarely narrowly ovate, 4−24 × 3−16 mm, on upper side glabrous, on underside sparsely to rather densely covered with spreading hairs. Stamen-tube obliquely cut at the mouth. Ovary with a stipe 3−7 mm, hairy; style glabrous. Legumes with a stipe 3−7(−15) mm, oblong to ellipsoid, 20−35(−40) mm long, (8−)10−15 mm high and 10−15(−17) mm wide, slightly keeled ventrally, widely rounded dorsally, with a beak 3−5 mm, incompletely bilocular (septum c. 1/2 of the fruit’s hight);; valves coriaceous, straw-colored or brown- suffused, with long spreading hairs, glabrescent with age.
