Podlech & Zarre (2013), vol. I, p. 787Plants shrubby, spiny, densely branched, with white hairs 0.4–1.5 mm, at calyx and legumes 1.5–2.5 mm and with shorter black hairs. Stems branches up to 30 cm, in older parts 6–7 mm thick; parts of the current year 3–5 cm, with internodes up to 12 mm, densely white hairy, sometimes around the nodes with few black hairs mixed in. Stipules whitish-hyaline, 4–12 mm, adnate to the petiole for 1–2 mm, strongly embracing the stem to fully amplexicaul and shortly connate behind the stem, mostly high up connate before the petiole, ciliate at the margins, otherwise nearly glabrous. Leaves 2–5 cm, obliquely erect to horizontally spreading; petiole 0.5–1.5 cm, like the rachis stout, persistent, pungent, densely hairy, soon glabrescent and glabrous with age, yellowish green becoming brown; terminal spine 2–4 times longer than the uppermost leaflets. Leaflets in (4–)5–6(–7) pairs, narrowly obovate, flat or slightly folded, 4–9(–11) × 2–3.5 mm, the upper ones smaller, rounded but with a cusp 0.5–1 mm, on underside with prominent midvein and mostly with similar sideveins, with spreading white hairs on both sides but on upper side often glabrescent toward the centre. Racemes 1–3- flowered, with a black hairy peduncle 1–3 mm. Bracts membranous, 2–7 mm, narrowly triangular, ciliate, more rarely hairy on the backside. Pedicels 1–1.5 mm, hairy. Calyx 8–16 mm, tubular, straw- colored yellowish, often reddish-suffused, densely covered with black hairs, with few white hairs mixed in; teeth keeled, subulate, 2–5 mm. Petals yellow or reddish to dark red-suffused, all covered with white and black hairs on the abaxial side. Standard 13–22 mm; blade obovate, emarginate, gradually narrowed at the base. Wings 13–20 mm; blades narrowly oblong, obtuse, 6–9 mm. Keel 11–18 mm; blades obliquely elliptic, with in the middle curved lower edge and straight to slightly curved upper edge, shortly acuminate, c. 5–7 mm. Stamen-tube obliquely cut at the mouth. Ovary with a stipe 1–2 mm, densely covered with white and also black hairs; style hairy at the base. Legumens obliquely ellipsoid, 8–16 mm long and 2–5 mm high, keeled at the curved ventral side, shallowly grooved to rounded with a thickend nerve at the ± straight dorsal side, with a beak 1–2 mm, incompletely to nearly completely bilocular; valves coriaceous, voulted, densely white hairy with black hairs mixed in.
