Podlech & Zarre (2013), vol. I, p. 447Plants 10−30 cm tall, shrubby, spiny, cushion-forming, with tangled, often curved, spreading white hairs up to 1.2(–2) mm, in the inflorescence also with mostly distinctly shorter black hairs. Stems branched, covered with old stipules and yellow brown persistent rachises, parts of the current year short, densely hairy. Stipules 8–12 mm, whitish-membranous, narrowly triangular, free from the petiole but befor the petiole connate for 2−5 mm, at the margines densely ciliate, otherwise sparsely hairy. Leaves paripinnate, 6−10 cm; petiole 1−2 cm, like the rachis obliquely erect, loosely to rather densely hairy, glabrescent with age, rigid and pungent, persistent. Leaflets in 20-22 pairs, orbicular to transversely widely elliptic, 3−4 × 4−5 mm, rounded to slightly retuse, at the base slightly cordate, distinctly or more rarely slightly peltate, loosely ciliate at the margins, folded and facing transversely toward the rachis. Peduncles 1−1.3 cm, black hairy. Racemes 2−4-flowered. Bracts membranous, 5−7 mm, narrowly triangular, white and black hairy. Pedicels 3−4 mm, predominantly black hairy. Calyx 13−15 mm, tubular, losely covered with spreading, predominantly black hairs; teeth c. 3 mm, unequal, the two upper ones triangular, the three lower ones narrowly triangular. Petals yellow, glabrous. Standard 20−24 mm; blade 6−7 mm wide, oblong-panduriform, widely rounded to slightly emaraginate, slightly constricted in the middle, angularly passing into the widely cuneate claw. Wings 19−22 mm; blades narrowly oblong, 8−10 × 2 mm; auricle narrow, c. 2 mm, claw c. 11 mm. Keel 18−20 mm; blades obliquely triangular-elliptic, with in the middle gibbously curved lower edge and S- like curved upper edge, subacute, 7 × 2.5−3 mm; auricle acute, c. 1 mm, claw c. 11 mm. Stamen-tube strongly obliquely cut at the mouth. Ovary with a stipe c. 2 mm, linear, hairy; style hairy in lower half. Legumes with a short stipe, oblong, 20−24 mm long, nearly completely bilocular; valves thin but tough, covered with spreading long white and short black hairs.
