Rootstock profusely divided, with short branches, covered with remnants of old leaves. Stipules 3−5 mm, the lower ones triangular, the upper ones narrowly triangular, adnate to the petiole for 1−2 mm, otherwise free from each other, densely appressed white hairy. Leaves 4−7 cm long; petiole and the much longer rachis densely covered with medifixed, appressed white hairs 0.5−0.8 mm, becoming hard and persistent. Leaflets in 4−5 pairs, distant, elliptic to narrowly elliptic, 7−15 × 2−4(−6) mm, acute, on both sides silvery hairy like the rachis. Peduncles 9−20 cm long, rather densely hairy like the rachis, sometimes below the raceme with mixed white and black hairs. Racemes ovoid, c. 3 cm long, densely many-flowered. Bracts hyaline, 3−4 mm long, narrowly triangular, sparsely black hairy. Calyx initially tubular, c. 8 mm, rather densely villous with basifixed, ascending to spreading white hairs 0.5−1 mm, sometimes with scattered black hairs mixed in; teeth subulate, c. 2 mm long, black hairy; fruiting calyx ovoid-inflated, 10−12 mm long, sparsely to loosely hairy; teeth 3−4 mm long. Petals violet. Standard c. 17 mm long; blade c. 5 mm wide narrowly elliptic, emarginate, slightly angularly passing into the short claw. Wings c. 17 mm long; blades narrowly oblong, emarginate.
