Rootstock up to 10 mm thick, scarcely divided, with short, thick branches. Stipules whitish-membranous, 10–18(–25) mm, glabrous, adnate to the petiole for 1–2 mm, the lower ones ovate, obtuse, glabrous, the upper ones narrowly triangular. Leaves (10–)20–40 cm; petiole up to 12 cm, at the base up to 3 mm thick, like the rachis finely striate-sulcate, glabrous or with few spreading hairs.
