Rootstock up to 20 mm thick, strongly branched, in upper part densely covered with hardened rachises. Stems of the current year not distinct or up to 2 cm, glabrous. Stipules membranous, 5−9 mm, adnate to the petiole for 2−3 mm, the lower ones ovate-obtuse, glabrous, the upper ones narrowly triangular, hairy toward the tip. Leaves (2−)5−10(−16) cm; petiole 2−3 cm, like the rachis glabrous or sparsely covered with nearly spreading hairs up to 0.5, sometimes also up to 1 mm, hardening and persistent, slightly to distinctly pungent. Leaflets in (13−)16−22 pairs, narrowly obovate to obovate, 2−5(−10) × 1−2.5(−3) mm, rounded to slightly emarginate, on upper side glabrous, on underside sparsely to loosely appressed hairy, easily falling. Keel 12−13 mm; blades nearly triangular, with rectangularly curved lower edge and slightly curved upper edge, subacute, c. 5 × 3 mm; auricle minute, claw 7−8 mm. Stamen-tube obliquely cut at the mouth. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy; style glabrous. Legumes sessile, oblong to ellipsoid, 9−13 mm long, 5−6 mm high and 4−5 mm wide, keeled ventrally, widely grooved dorsally, with a beak c. 2 mm, incompletely bilocular (septum up to 1/2 of the fruit’s hight); valves thin but tough, pale brown, appressed hairy and completely glabrous with age.
