Rootstock with a pluricipital root-crown, with short subterranean branches covered with remnants of old stipules. Stipules white-membranous, 5−15 mm, adnate to the petiole for 4−5 mm, the lower ones ovate-obtuse, glabrous, the upper ones oblong-acute, ciliate at the margins. Leaves (4−)8−20(−23) cm; petiole 1.5−4.5 cm, like the rachis sometimes reddish-suffused, rather densely covered with spreading hairs. Leaflets in (8−)15−22 pairs, ovate to elliptic, 3−11 × 2−6 mm, rounded or more rarely slightly retuse, on upper side sparsely to loosely hairy, sometimes only toward the margins, on underside densely covered with subappressed to ascending hairs, often folded. Racemes sessile or with a peduncle up to 1 cm, glabrous or with spreading hairs, 1−3-flowered. Bracts white-membranous, 5−12 mm, linear-acute, densely ciliate. Pedicels 2−5 mm, with spreading hairs. Calyx 11−14 mm, tubular, covered with spreading hairs; teeth from narrowly triangular base acuminate, 2−4 mm. Petals glabrous, yellow, fading red. Standard 17−22 mm; blade7−9 mm wide, obovate, emarginate, below the middle slightly constricted, subabruptly angularly passing into the claw. Wings 15−20 mm; blades narrowly oblong, slightly dilated upward, rounded, 8−10 × 2.5−3 mm; auricle c. 2.5 mm, claw 7−10 mm. Keel 14−18 mm; blades obovate-triangular, with in upper part rectangularly curved lower edge and nearly straight upper edge, subobtuse, 5−7 × 3.5−4 mm; auricle up to 1 mm, claw 9−11 mm. Stamen-tube strongly obliquely cut at the mouth. Ovary sessile or shortly stipitate, densely hairy; style glabrous. Legumes sessile, ellipsoid, 10−17 mm long, 6−7 mm high and 8−9 mm wide, rounded with slightly prominent nerve ventrally, flattened dorsally, with an oblique beak 2−3 mm, incompletely bilocular (septum 1/2−2/3 of the fruit’s hight); valves thinly coriaceous, straw-colored, densely covered with spreading hairs.
